In its short history, IIT Indore has distinguished itself with its commitment to innovation in pedagogy and research. The institute prides itself on the active involvement of its undergraduate students in research projects across departments and Departments. |
Campus |
IIT Indore is located in a scenic campus about 25 km south of Indore along Khandwa Road in Simrol village. The campus is spreads over an area of about 501 acres and is self sufficient with all modern facilities. All undergraduate students reside in the Halls of Residences within the campus. |
Facilities |
Sport facilities comprise upcoming football and cricket grounds with floodlights,
basketball court, upcoming tennis courts, volleyball court, badminton courts, a well equipped gymnasium,
table tennis, and a Student Activity Centre. All students will be serverd breakfast, lunch, high tea with snacks and dinner in the dinning area. It operates a night canteen during exam time. The Health Centre is conveniently located within the Hall of Residence and operates round the clock. IITI also has a 24X7 ambulance available at hostel for emergency medical situations. It also makes trips to the hospital every day. Students are covered by medical insurance and health services are free of cost. The Student Activity Centre is where students and student clubs have meetings, events and activities. La Fresco is IIT Indore’s own general operated by students. All day-to-day requirements like cosmetics, packed food, stationery, cold-drinks and refreshments are available here. It has a photo-copying machine and printing facility. Several other stores and facilities are coming up on campus and should be available very soon. The Central Library has a rich collection of books for research, learning and all educational needs. It also has a huge repotoire of electronic databases, journals and e-publications that are useful for student and faculty research. The library also has a growing collection of fiction and non-fiction books for students to access beyond their study needs. Books in most Indian languages are available. More information about the library can be found at this link. The Counselling Cell comprises a professional counselor along with a few student members. It offers friendly support to the students to deal with any concerns that they might have including academic, personal, emotional, family or peer related. |
Placements |
IIT Indore has consistently had an excellent placement record since its first graduating batch in 2013. Students have been placed in
reputed firms like Microsoft, Google, Honda, Qualcomm, DE Shaw, Impetus, Accenture, Infosys to
name just a few. |
Student Life |
Clubs ensure that student life has multiple dimensions. The following clubs are active at IIT Indore: Apart from this, IIT Indore sends teams for SAE India’s BAJA competition, Robocon and the ACM ICPC. IIT Indore’s team has made it to the international finals of the ACM ICPC three times! IIT Indore sends a its contingent to the Inter IIT Sports Meet. Training and practice for it takes place round the year. Celebrations are organized for occasions and festivities such as Independence Day, Republic Day, Foundation Day, Janmasthami, Dandiya etc and take place with fervour and enthusiasm. Inter-batch sports tournaments are held for sports such as football, basketball and volleyball. |
Outside IITI |
Indore is called ‘mini-Mumbai’ and rightly so. The city is the commercial capital of Madhya Pradesh and is modern. Indore is city with a lot of educational institutes (only city in to have an IIT and IIM) and hence cafes, movie theatres, clubs, restaurants and hangout places are ample in number. Malls such as Treasure Island and C21 are a popular hangout place for students on weekends. They house the major fast-food chains such as Dominos, McD, Pizza Hut, KFC etc. The Sarafa Bazaar and Chhappan Dukaan are places where Indore’s highly regarded street food can be savoured. Indore is also a historical city and is surrounded by heritage areas that are accessible in short trips by road. Mandu, a palace city, Maheshwar on the banks of the Narmada, Ujjain the temple city are all within a two hour drive from Indore. |
